To operate properly in a network environment, the LAN interface must be configured with valid TCP/IP network parameters. These parameters are:
IP address
Subnet Mask
Default Gateway
The TCP/IP parameters can be configured by the following methods:
by automatically requesting the parameters from a network-based DHCP Server (using the so-called Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). This mode requires a LAN-onboard Module or a G1369C LAN Interface card, see Setup (DHCP)
by manually setting the parameters using the Local Controller
The LAN interface differentiates between several initialization modes. The initialization mode (short form ‘init mode’) defines how to determine the active TCP/IP parameters after power-on. The parameters may be derived non-volatile memory or initialized with known default values. The initialization mode is selected by the configuration switch, see Overview of 8-bit configuration switch settings.
