Error ID:
With the low noise of the detector, the xenon flash lamp or the trigger pack assembly may cause periodic baseline instabilities.
Lamp instabilities come in many different forms. The period may vary from a few seconds to hours.
To diagnose whether the lamp is the cause of the baseline instability, perform the following steps:
Ensure that the detector has been properly warmed up.
Flush the flow cell with water and start blank runs (without sample injections).
To remove any influence of the column, use a restriction capillary.
If you see instabilities, stop the flow and compare.
Probable cause | Suggested actions | |
---|---|---|
1 | Aging detector lamp (no instabilities after stop of flow) | Replace the trigger pack assembly (first) and lamp (second). |
2 | Issues in the system in front of the detector (still instabilities after stop of flow) | Check the system in front of the detector (for example for air leaks). |
